child's high school education affords many opportunities and choices
for classes. Some of these classes fulfill the basic requirements
of Engilsh, math, science, and social studies. Other class choices
are electives in which the students select from Fine Arts, Foreign
Language, or Career Education.
the Career and Technical Education area, there are classes in
Family and Consumer Science, Industrial Technology, Business,
Horticulture and Healthcare. Classes in these areas can prepare
your child to go on for a Certificate or an Associate Degree at
a community college. Some classes allow students to earn college
credit while still in high school. This saves book fees, time
and money. Some afford the opportunity to earn an industry credential. These options also mean that within two years of graduating
from high school, your child could be prepared for employment
in a position paying much more than he/she could get with just
a high school diploma. This is called a Career and Technical Education Programs of Study program.
