Carol Brooks


Executive Director
Carol Brooks, Executive Director, joined the staff of Career Development System in July 2014.  Carol comes with extensive knowledge of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) as she was a principal consultant in the College and Career Readiness Division of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).  Among Carol’s duties as Executive Director are:
  • Provide leadership, and coordination of the career and technical education programs and services across the region
  • Develop and promote faculty-to-faculty and program-to-program articulation for career development and advanced placement of CTE students
  • Provide in-service programming for staff to further expand the integration of academic and CTE course contents
  • Expand business and industry partnership collaborations, to enhance the Programs of Study and delivery of career and technical education
  • Provide technical support, assistance and leadership for CTE programs while serving as a liaison to the State Board of Education
  • Develop and administer the regional budget, administrative reports and other documents necessitated by ISBE

Carol earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville (SIUE).  She returned to SIUE to obtain the pedagogy and received her Type 09 in Business Education.  Carol earned a Master of Arts in Education Leadership from the University of Illinois, Springfield.

Prior to working Career Development System, Carol was employed by Illinois State Board of Education, as the Business Marketing and Computer Education content consultant for 9 years.  Carol was employed by Southern Illinois University – Carbondale, as the ISIS Project Coordinator for 6 years and she was a business teacher as well.
